Relying on one device can threaten wallet security, Stephan Livera notes
One device security risk for wallets

Stephan Livera, Stephan Livera, Head of Education and Podcast Host at Swan Bitcoin, described the risks of depending on a single device for crypto wallet security. Livera argued that options like single-signature with a passphrase or 2-of-2 multisignature setups can deter theft but may lead to loss of access if one secret is lost, while a 2-of-3 or more expansive multisig can address both risks.

Livera has previously highlighted that blockchain processes $5.75 trillion in settlements each quarter, with around $62 billion settled daily and accessible worldwide, in a recent analysis of blockchain settlement volumes. He has also remarked that most Bitcoin wallets generate new addresses for each transaction, and that static addresses are primarily used by exchanges, as noted in his discussion of wallet address practices. These insights add context to ongoing debates about wallet security and operational choices.
