Mohamed A. El-Erian: Global economy is managing higher costs through multiple strategies
Global economy manages costs via strategies

Global economic activity has adapted to higher costs by drawing on income growth, savings, inventory reductions, debt, improved efficiency, slower margin expansion, and selective price pass-through.

Mohamed A. El-Erian, president of Queens' College, University of Cambridge, shared this assessment, emphasizing the combination of approaches used to navigate persistent inflation.

El-Erian earlier highlighted that U.S. consumer inflation of 0.6% prompted a temporary rise in yields and increased expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike. He also noted when the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.22 percent, the highest since 2002, as Brent oil prices approached $110. These observations reflect ongoing adjustments to inflation and higher costs across markets.
