Richard Tice: Grid balancing cost now exceeds £200 per household due to renewables
U.K. grid balancing costs rise sharply

The cost to balance the energy grid system in the U.K. has now risen to over £200 per household annually, which Richard Tice attributes to the impact of renewables.

Tice states that total grid balancing costs reached £3 billion over the past 12 months but are now running at an annualized rate of £6 billion based on September and October figures. He also claims that the cost has soared 500% over the last decade, mainly due to wind turbines, and says reforms would eliminate the current approach.

Tice previously claimed that £80 million was spent in just two days on electricity balancing costs due to Net Zero policies. He has also highlighted that U.K. government borrowing reached £24.5 billion in September. These figures contribute to ongoing scrutiny of how energy and fiscal strategies are affecting public finances.
