Headroom projected to drop to £15bn before rising, OBR forecasts
OBR sees UK headroom drop then rise

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) forecasts that the government's fiscal headroom will decrease from £24 billion to £15 billion in 29/30, before rising to £22 billion the following year.

Robert Peston, a journalist and economics & finance editor at ITV / Media, shared these OBR estimates.

Peston has previously examined government financial challenges abroad, including France’s fiscal problems and their possible political effects. He has also questioned whether UK government creditors and investors are being too harsh during periods of fiscal scrutiny. These reports add context to the latest OBR projections.
