Data can be exposed via third parties, Layah Heilpern warns
User data risks via third parties

Layah Heilpern, Layah Heilpern, stated that users who trust exchanges such as Coinbase may unwittingly have their data compromised through third-party analytics firms. She pointed to the recent hacking of Amplitude, an analytics company trusted by Coinbase, as an example of how user data can be exposed through entities individuals never directly interact with.

Heilpern added that she continues to support self-custody as the preferable approach for protecting user data.

Heilpern has previously highlighted user-facing risks in crypto platforms, including Sberbank’s planned rollout of bitcoin trading with a $3,500 annual cap per individual. She also covered technical safeguards, reporting on Wormbook’s approach to scanning Robinhood chain coins for hidden instructions that could affect AI crypto traders. These reports emphasize recurring concerns around platform safety and transaction limits.
