CFTC oversight bolsters crypto exchange safety

Jake Chervinsky, lawyer and head of policy at Hyperliquid Policy Center, pointed to the collapse of FTX, noting that while the offshore exchange went bankrupt, the CFTC-registered FTX US remained segregated and secure.

Chervinsky argued that this is further evidence that crypto exchanges are best and safest when regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Chervinsky previously reported on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s opposition to a CFTC dismissal motion, highlighting unresolved questions around market definitions in that case. He has also described a recent interview with Hyperliquid’s founder as a useful introduction to the platform’s technical details in an earlier article. These contributions reflect his ongoing engagement with regulatory and technical developments in the crypto sector.
