Eurozone inflation at 4 percent in October suggests further rate hikes, Daniel Kral warns
Eurozone inflation holds at 4 percent

Eurozone inflation reached 4 percent in October, which Daniel Kral describes as primarily an energy price spike.

Kral cautioned that, as seen in 2021-22, increases in energy costs often spill over into other categories. He added that inflation has not peaked and the European Central Bank is expected to implement further rate hikes.

Kral previously reported that small South European economies have achieved historic public debt reductions driven by fiscal discipline and economic growth, as detailed in an earlier article. In a separate report, he cited IMF projections that government revenue will rise by more than 6 percentage points of GDP compared to 2019 by the end of the decade according to the IMF. These fiscal trends have played a role in shaping recent eurozone economic conditions.
