Tesla stock attempts to reclaim $382 before earnings
Tesla eyes $390 before earnings.

Tesla stock is attempting to reclaim the $382 level ahead of today's second-quarter earnings report. Holding above this level could extend the recovery toward $390, while the earnings release is expected to determine the stock's medium-term direction.

Tesla will report its second-quarter results today, July 22, after the market closes, with the conference call scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET. According to the consensus forecast, the company is expected to report revenue of approximately $27.6 billion, adjusted earnings of $0.55 per share, and an automotive gross margin of 19.5%.

Tesla has already reported 480,126 vehicle deliveries and 13.5 GWh of energy storage deployments. As a result, investors are now focused on automotive margins, free cash flow, capital expenditures, and management's commentary on the development of Robotaxi, Cybercab, and Optimus.

Holding above $382 could extend the rebound

As discussed in the previous analysis, two potential rebound scenarios were identified: an initial bounce from $382, or, if that support failed, a recovery from the next support at $368. Tesla was unable to hold $382, but buyers stepped in near $368, allowing the stock to rebound back toward $382. As a result, the second scenario has played out.

The $382 level once again becomes the key technical reference. If the regular trading session opens above this level and buyers manage to defend it, the recovery could extend toward the next resistance near $390.

However, if Tesla opens below $382 or is rejected from this level again, the probability of another move toward the $368 support would increase. With the earnings report due after the market closes, the technical picture could change dramatically during the next trading session..

Trading volume rises ahead of Tesla earnings

Tesla's earnings report could trigger a sharp increase in volatility and a significant price gap in either direction. Investors are likely to focus more on automotive margins, free cash flow, and AI-related spending than on the headline earnings figures.

Both today's and tomorrow's trading sessions are expected to see elevated trading volume as the market reacts to the earnings release.
