Rolls-Royce shares fall back below GBX 1,450 despite strong H1 results
Profit-taking keeps Rolls-Royce below key resistance.

Improved financial performance strengthened Rolls-Royce’s fundamental outlook but failed to produce sustained share-price gains. After an initially positive reaction, investors began taking profits.

Rolls-Royce reported strong first-half results. Underlying revenue rose 24% to £11.28 billion, operating profit increased 46% to £2.53 billion, and the margin improved from 19.1% to 22.5%. Free cash flow reached £1.96 billion.

The company raised its 2026 operating profit guidance from £4.0–4.2 billion to £4.7–4.9 billion. Its free cash flow forecast was also increased from £3.6–3.8 billion to £3.8–4.0 billion.

Intraday volatility rose sharply as investors locked in gains.

Buyers need to reclaim GBX 1,450 to target the ATH

Following the initially positive reaction to the results, Rolls-Royce shares pulled back to around GBX 1,420. A sustained move below this level would intensify selling pressure and increase the probability of another test of support at GBX 1,380.

To resume the upward move, buyers must reclaim and hold above GBX 1,450. Only then would the market receive confirmation of a potential move towards the all-time high near GBX 1,510.

As long as the shares remain below GBX 1,450, the risk of further profit-taking persists.

Earnings volatility fails to trigger a decisive breakout

As noted earlier, volatility rose sharply on the day of the results, while the initially positive reaction quickly gave way to profit-taking.

However, the price remained within the broad GBX 1,355–1,450 range. A decisive breakout through either boundary will determine the shares’ medium-term direction.
