Order book expansion as data center demand drives revenue growth

Generac Holdings Inc. reported second-quarter 2026 net sales rising 11% year-over-year to $1.17 billion, led by a 29% increase in commercial and industrial revenue as demand from data center customers grew. The quarter also saw a return to growth in home standby generator sales. Generac continued progressing toward an energy technology solutions model amid an expanding order book.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees Generac’s rally as fragile. He notes that price remains below all key moving averages, despite the sharp headline sales improvement. Indicators like MACD, ADX, and AO warn of ongoing bearish momentum. Intraday upside lacks confirmation by broader trend or conviction from buyers. "Recent gains are likely corrective only — persistent selling pressure and oversold signals mean any recovery attempt may be short-lived," he observes.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, believes that Generac’s robust quarterly growth demonstrates underlying business strength. He highlights the 29% surge in commercial and industrial sales, along with traction in home standby demand. The company’s strategic focus on energy technology solutions sets the foundation for further expansion. Karapetjanc maintains that the bullish structure remains intact above key supports. "Strong demand drivers and an expanding order book point to higher prices ahead if $201.47 is cleared," he states.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, views Generac’s rebound as vulnerable within the context of persistent market negativity. He points out that technical momentum is still dominated by sellers, as shown by deep oversold conditions and negative signals from both price and oscillators. Dele thinks macro risk remains high, particularly if support at $190.42 fails. "Without stabilization above resistance, the price risks further declines as bearish sentiment prevails," he asserts.

Bearish momentum deepens as technicals confirm oversold conditions

Generac trades below its 20-day ($219.83), 50-day ($250.78), and 200-day ($204.44) moving averages, indicating persistent selling pressure across short, medium, and long time frames. The nearest resistance and support are established at $201.47 and $190.42, with the longer-term trend confirmed bullish by MA-50 vs MA-200 alignment. Momentum remains negative with both the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) signaling "Sell." The Relative Strength Index (RSI), Stochastic RSI, and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) all point to deep oversold conditions. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) shows sellers dominate intraday momentum and flags the stock as oversold. The Awesome Oscillator (AO) further confirms the prevailing bearish tone. Generac is currently trading at $198.42, up $6.51 or 3.39% from the previous close after an upside gap of approximately $6.08 (3.17%). Price is positioned near the daily high, with intraday volatility standing at 5.80%. The stock shows strength toward session highs, but the negative momentum signals warn of persistent downside pressure.

Earlier, analysts noted that Generac faced persistent downside momentum amid broad-based selling pressure and oversold technical signals. The current rebound on strong earnings adds a potentially stabilizing factor, but with negative momentum still dominating, traders should closely monitor whether the stock can sustain gains above the $201.47 resistance to signal a change in trend.
