Snowflake stock faces deeper correction as technical overheating builds
Snowflake has started to correct after an extended rally of more than 43%, losing roughly 3% on August 14. Fresh product updates continue to support the longer-term AI story, while the stock looks increasingly overheated from a short-term technical perspective.
RBC Capital Markets raised its price target on Snowflake to $372 from $313, naming the company as one of its preferred growth ideas in the software sector.
At the same time, Snowflake continues to expand its AI platform. The company released CoCo Desktop v1.21.0, adding enterprise device-management controls, expanded file viewing directly within agent mode, and several performance improvements. A day earlier, Snowflake also expanded support for dynamic Apache Iceberg tables and updated Data Clean Rooms.

Technical overheating raises the risk of a deeper correction
The previously outlined scenario has started to play out. After rallying more than 43%, SNOW stock fell roughly 3% on August 14.
For the next several sessions, the base case remains a further decline toward the $315–318 area. The RSI (14), which has remained in overbought territory for more than a month, provides an additional signal that the stock remains technically overheated.
Another risk factor is the stock’s substantial distance from the 200-day SMA, currently around 53%. Historically, such an extreme deviation has increased the probability of a mean-reversion move.
September earnings become the next key test
For now, SNOW’s decline looks more like a result of technical overheating and profit-taking than a deterioration in the fundamental picture. Recent product updates continue to expand Snowflake’s AI capabilities, while RBC maintains a positive view of the company’s demand outlook and growth prospects.
The next major test will be the quarterly earnings report on September 2. Snowflake has officially scheduled the release of its fiscal 2027 second-quarter results for that date.
The report will show whether current expectations for consumption growth and the company’s AI business are being supported by actual operating results.
