Adyen rally cools as Wolfe Research lifts target to €1,400
Adyen continues to show strong momentum after holding €1,017 and advancing toward the €1,085 area. After five consecutive sessions of gains, however, the technical setup is beginning to show signs of short-term overheating.
Wolfe Research raised its price target on Adyen to €1,400 from €1,225 while maintaining an Outperform rating. Analysts updated their estimates for the payments sector following quarterly earnings and highlighted continued resilience in U.S. consumer spending and credit trends.
The new target implies considerable upside from current levels around €1,080 and supports the medium-term bullish case for the shares.

Doji and overbought RSI raise correction risk
Adyen shares held the €1,017 support level highlighted earlier, allowing the price to recover toward resistance around €1,085. Buyers, however, have so far failed to clear this level decisively.
After five consecutive sessions of gains, a doji candle formed on the daily chart on August 25 on relatively high volume. At the same time, the RSI (14) remains in overbought territory, adding to signs that short-term upside momentum is starting to fade.
Together, these signals increase the probability of a local correction toward the 200-day SMA near €1,048.
The medium-term structure, however, remains bullish. If the pullback develops without a sustained break below key levels, the main target remains unchanged at €1,200–1,250.
A pullback would not break the broader recovery
After the strong rebound, some short-term profit-taking would be natural and would not by itself change the medium-term bullish scenario. Strong H1 metrics and positive analyst sentiment continue to support the fundamental backdrop, while technical overbought conditions remain the main near-term risk.
A potential decline toward the 200-day SMA near €1,048 would therefore be better viewed as a test of the strength of the current recovery.
