The main fundamental driver for AMD remains comments from CFO Jean Hu at the Citi Global TMT Conference. She said the total addressable market for AMD products could reach $2–3 trillion by 2030, while demand for the company’s GPUs and CPUs continues to grow. AMD expects its CPU business to expand by more than 80% year over year in the second half.

The market has already reacted to those comments, with AMD gaining 5.9% in the September 8 session.

Geopolitical and macroeconomic risks, however, are playing an increasingly important role across U.S. equities, making traders more cautious.

$500 becomes the key level after bullish breakout

The bullish setup highlighted earlier fully played out. AMD broke above the descending trendline, reached the first $500 target and stopped just short of $514.

With geopolitical and macroeconomic tensions increasing, however, the probability of a pullback has risen noticeably. For today’s session, $500 becomes the key level, where the 50-day SMA coincides with horizontal support.

A decisive break and sustained move below $500 could accelerate the decline toward the next support around $493.50. If that level also fails to hold, the correction could extend toward trendline support near $480.

If AMD stabilizes around $500, buyers could regain momentum and attempt to test the broader $514–527 liquidity zone.

Macro risks put AMD’s $500 support in focus

The external backdrop remains the main risk to AMD’s current bullish setup. Brent climbed above $100 on September 9 amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, reviving concerns about fresh inflationary pressure.

At the same time, the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield approached 4.81%. This combination could increase volatility across technology stocks, making the ability to hold $500 particularly important for AMD.
