Rolls-Royce is among the major British companies invited to meet the new UK government. According to the Financial Times, Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to discuss investment, industrial development and measures aimed at making it easier for companies to scale in the UK. Rolls-Royce, HSBC, BT and Aviva are among the businesses expected to take part in the broader event.

GBX 1,420–1,450 range will define the next move

Rolls-Royce shares reached the first recovery target around GBX 1,450, but momentum was not strong enough to extend the move toward the next target near GBX 1,470.

The stock opened below GBX 1,450 on September 14, making this level the key resistance for the coming sessions.

With geopolitical and macroeconomic risks still elevated, downside pressure remains a concern. A sustained move below GBX 1,420 would open the way toward the next support around GBX 1,380.

A return above GBX 1,450, by contrast, would increase the probability of another test of the 50-day SMA near GBX 1,470.

The reaction around GBX 1,420 and GBX 1,450 should therefore determine the short-term direction.

Three UK releases could quickly reset market expectations

The UK market is heading into an especially busy macroeconomic week. On September 15, the ONS will publish fresh labour-market data, including unemployment and wage growth.

August CPI is due on September 16, followed by the Bank of England’s rate decision on September 17. The Bank Rate currently stands at 3.75%. Three consecutive days of employment, inflation and monetary-policy updates could significantly increase volatility across UK equities.
