SK Hynix is discussing a potential agreement with Intel that could bring production by the South Korean memory-chip maker to the U.S. for the first time. One option under consideration involves leasing part of Intel’s Ohio complex currently under construction, while another would involve forming a joint venture with Intel and major cloud companies. No final agreement has been reached.

For Intel, such a partnership could provide additional utilization for the Ohio site, where the first two fabs were previously delayed until 2030–2031.

Recovery scenario keeps $106.50 in focus

The recovery setup outlined earlier continues to play out. Intel stock climbed as high as $100.50, although sellers regained control during the session and the price finished near the 50-day SMA.

In premarket trading on September 16, the shares are back near $100 following reports of a potential partnership with SK Hynix. That keeps the $106.50 target in focus.

Extra caution is warranted today, however. The Fed decision and subsequent press conference could trigger a sharp increase in volatility during the second half of the regular session.

A sustained move below $96 would invalidate the base-case recovery scenario.

Fed decision raises the risk of sharp intraday swings

Intel’s technical setup today is likely to depend not only on company-specific news but also on the broader market reaction to the Fed.

That creates the potential for sharp moves in either direction later in the session. For short-term traders, the risk of false breakouts and rapid reversals is particularly high around the rate decision and press conference, making caution especially important during that period.
