IBM stock looks for rebound as AI sentiment improves across tech sector
IBM tests support near $230 as tech sentiment improves

IBM is back in an area where sellers have previously struggled to maintain control. The next few sessions should show whether improving sentiment across the technology sector is enough to trigger another reversal.

IBM has published new research on AI adoption in the workplace. Some 60% of surveyed employees said they worry that AI is gradually eroding their skills, while 71% of HR executives identified the ability to oversee and correct AI-driven decisions as one of the most important skills for the future.

At the same time, organizations that clearly divide workflows into human-led, AI-assisted and AI-executed processes reported an 18% reduction in risk and a 20% improvement in quality. The findings reinforce IBM’s broader enterprise AI narrative, as companies increasingly move beyond experimentation and focus on integrating AI into day-to-day operations.

$230 support keeps the rebound scenario alive

The base-case scenario from the previous analysis did not play out. A break below the 50-day SMA near $235 activated the alternative setup, which was completed once IBM reached the $230 target.

With sentiment across the technology sector improving, a rebound from $230 now becomes the base case.

The 50-day SMA is currently near $232.50. A move above that level could strengthen the recovery and open the way toward $238.

This setup would be invalidated by a break and sustained move below the $230–227.50 area. In that case, the stock could extend its decline toward the next support near $215.

IBM needs price confirmation despite better tech sentiment

For IBM, the absence of a fresh negative company-specific catalyst is helping stabilize sentiment, particularly as the broader technology sector improves.

Recent corporate developments, however, are more relevant to the medium-term outlook and do not yet appear strong enough to reverse the stock on their own. The next few sessions should therefore show whether a broader risk-on move in tech can help IBM recover or whether pressure below the 50-day SMA persists.
