Rolls-Royce targets GBX 1,550 as corporate catalysts support bullish setup
Rolls-Royce has moved within touching distance of a key psychological barrier, but the first attempt to break through has stalled. The next few sessions should show whether the current mix of catalysts is strong enough to keep the rally moving.
Rolls-Royce has received the first orders for its mtu Power Packs in a rail project in Latin America. The company announced that Marcopolo Rail has ordered six 6H1800R83 for three trains that will run on the urban rail network in Teresina, Brazil. Another six Power Packs are to be installed in a follow-on project, with the first train due to come into service by as early as October 2026.
In addition, the company announced another tranche of share buybacks. In the period of 15-21 September, Rolls-Royce repurchased approximately 1.97 million shares through UBS. The company has now bought back 125.97 million shares at a volume-weighted average price of GBX 1,313.33.

Rolls-Royce needs a close above GBX 1,500
The bullish setup outlined earlier has now played out in full, with the shares reaching the psychological GBX 1,500 level.
The stock has yet to establish itself above that threshold, however, leaving GBX 1,500 as the main resistance to watch over the coming days. A firm break and close above it would strengthen the bullish case and bring the next target near GBX 1,550 into view.
The setup would weaken on a sustained move below the 50-day SMA, currently around GBX 1,475. Losing that level would materially increase the chance of another test of support near GBX 1,450.
Business momentum remains firm as investors wait for the next catalyst
Investor sentiment toward Rolls-Royce remains constructive. Steady growth in Power Systems and another share buyback support the broader investment case, but neither currently appears strong enough to drive a meaningful re-rating.
A sustained move above GBX 1,500 would likely require a clearer company-specific catalyst, such as a major order, an upgrade to guidance, or further evidence of accelerating momentum across the group’s core businesses.
