Class action filings accelerate pessimism as core revenues decline

Multiple law firms announced the filing of a securities class action lawsuit against Baidu, Inc. for investors who purchased securities between November 18, 2025, and August 17, 2026. The complaint alleges Baidu overstated its AI-powered business growth as revenues in its core divisions, including legacy search advertising, continued to decline. Financial reports cited in the lawsuit showed total revenue fell over 4% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2025 to RMB32.74 billion ($4.68 billion), a decrease of over 3% for the full year, with further year-over-year declines in key business segments in the second quarter of 2026.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, highlights the sharp negative sentiment following the class action lawsuit. He sees Baidu's technical profile as heavily compromised, with price persistently below all major moving averages and negative momentum signals dominating. The fundamental picture remains clouded by declining revenues and legal uncertainties, which further erode investor confidence. Kharitonov warns the lawsuit could trigger prolonged downside as credibility is questioned and key support levels approach. "With BIDU caught between legal risk and weak technicals, I believe downside risk prevails and new lows are possible if $75 fails," he states.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, views current challenges as short-term volatility within a broader AI growth narrative. He notes that while revenue declines and the lawsuit have pressured sentiment, previous sector rebounds after similar events suggest opportunity ahead. Karapetjanc believes structural demand for AI innovation remains strong and could reignite optimism once uncertainty fades. He remains focused on potential for swift recovery should Baidu resolve its legal concerns. "I see the market’s reaction as overdone — AI tailwinds and sector rotation present attractive setups for forward-looking investors," he asserts.
Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, sees Baidu’s current price action as a battleground for short-term traders. Turakhiya notes high volatility and heavy selling pressure, with indicators near oversold zones yet no reversal signal confirmed. He points out that price is hugging key support at $75, making it a tactical level for risk-managed entries or quick rebounds. Turakhiya believes sentiment is fragile and news flow will set the next move. "I’d watch for a decisive close above $77.79 or below $75 before taking a stance, as this will set up the next sentiment-driven wave," he says.

Bearish momentum dominates as moving averages confirm persistent pressure

Baidu trades well below its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages at $81.7, $87.71, and $114.83, reflecting pronounced pressure from sellers across short-, medium-, and long-term trend horizons. Bearish alignment between the 50-day and 200-day moving averages confirms the prevailing negative structure, with the near-term ceiling at $76.68 and a key floor at $75. Momentum signals are decisively negative. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) indicate strong bearish momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 34.78, nearing oversold, supported by the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) at -80.54 and Stochastic RSI at 80.4 indicating overbought conditions on a short-term swing. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) at -0.96 confirms sellers dominate intraday, also reflecting an oversold state. The stock trades at $76.23, down $2.42 or 3.07% on the day, after opening with a downside gap of about 1.69%. Price is near today's low, and intraday volatility stands at 1.03%. The overall tone is persistently heavy, with momentum and intraday action in bearish alignment.

Previously it was reported that Baidu shares dropped sharply following weaker-than-expected financial results and ongoing pressure on artificial intelligence-related stocks. The emergence of a securities class action lawsuit alleging overstated AI growth now adds legal risk to the prevailing downside, making the $75 support level crucial for traders to watch in the coming sessions.
