Bitfinex announced details of its Margin Lending (also known as Margin Funding) service, which allows users to offer loans by setting rates and durations, with interest credited daily to lenders when borrowers use leverage.
Bitfinex published details of its Margin Funding service, a peer-to-peer system in which users can provide loans to margin traders by placing funding offers directly into an order book. Lenders are able to set the loan amount, interest rate, and duration, with interest credited daily to their Funding Wallets around 01:30 AM UTC; the service supports a variety of assets including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and fiat.
The platform states that borrowers must provide collateral, and an automated liquidation engine is designed to protect lenders’ capital. Once a funding offer is matched, it cannot be canceled, but lenders will still receive at least one hour’s interest if borrowers return funds early. Bitfinex applies a fee to earned interest, and additional controls such as variable rate options and multi-currency support are available.
To participate in Bitfinex's Margin Lending, users need to have assets in their Bitfinex account and move funds to the Funding Wallet. Navigate to the Funding section, set the amount (minimum USD 150 equivalent), choose the interest rate and duration, then submit your lending offer to the funding order book. When matched with a margin trader, loans activate and interest is paid daily to your Funding Wallet. To get started, visit the official Bitfinex sign-up link.
