Pakistan raises diesel price under fuel pricing mechanism
Diesel price hike in Pakistan

Pakistan revises domestic fuel prices again at the end of October, lifting the rate of high-speed diesel while leaving petrol unchanged. The updated ex-depot prices take effect on October 30, 2026, after an earlier increase announced a day before for both major transport fuels.

Highlights

  • Pakistan increases high-speed diesel price by Re0.85 to Rs400.67 per litre, while petrol remains at Rs377.91 per litre, effective October 30, 2026.
  • OGRA cites global factors, including movements in Platts rates, premiums, and incidentals, as the main drivers for the revised fuel prices.
  • Brent crude falls $1.55 to $113.77 and WTI drops $2 to $100.78 on Thursday, following midweek gains that influenced Pakistan’s domestic pricing.

October 30 fuel price revision

As reported by Business Recorder, citing the Petroleum Division, the government increases the price of high-speed diesel by Re0.85 per litre to Rs400.67 from Rs399.82, while petrol remains unchanged at Rs377.91 per litre. The notification says the revised ex-depot prices take effect on Friday, October 30, 2026, under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, OGRA, says the adjustment is driven by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals. The latest move follows Wednesday’s increase, when the government raised petrol by Rs1.85 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs1.75 per litre.

Global oil moves shape local costs

International crude prices fall on Thursday, trimming gains from the previous session as hopes for peace talks ease some concerns over Middle East supply disruptions linked to escalating regional conflict. Brent crude declines $1.55, or 1.34%, to $113.77 a barrel by 1314 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude is down $2, or 1.95%, at $100.78.

Those global benchmarks remain a key factor for Pakistan’s domestic fuel pricing, alongside associated premiums and incidentals cited by the regulator. Brent rises 1.3% and WTI gains 3% on Wednesday, underscoring the volatility feeding into the latest local price adjustments.

Pakistan’s October 15 fuel price revision detailed another adjustment under the federal petroleum pricing mechanism, with petrol raised and high-speed diesel slightly reduced for that cycle. Our earlier report noted that OGRA linked the changes to global market factors such as Platts rates, premiums, and incidentals, as movements in Brent and WTI continued to feed into domestic ex-depot pricing.
