Unitil seeks new Maine distribution rates as MPUC review begins
Unitil has submitted a base rate case to the Maine Public Utilities Commission, seeking approval to alter distribution rates for all customers in Maine.
The filing will undergo a comprehensive review by the MPUC, a process expected to examine the proposed adjustments and their impact on customer bills. The outcome of the rate case could affect utility charges across Northern Utilities Maine’s network. Further updates will follow as the review progresses.
Unitil has recently focused on customer programs, including a $50 appliance rebate drive for recycling air conditioners and dehumidifiers. The utility has also introduced transformer guards and diverters aimed at improving grid reliability and protecting wildlife. These initiatives come as the company seeks adjustments to its base distribution rates in Maine.
