Operators risk network performance with 81 percent of ePMP radios running old firmware, Cambium Networks warns
Outdated firmware limits ePMP radios

A recent analysis by Cambium Networks reveals that 81 percent of ePMP radios deployed across networks are operating with superseded firmware.

This widespread use of outdated software means many wireless internet service providers (WISPs) are not benefitting from the latest performance enhancements, security patches, bug fixes, and new hardware capabilities already available. Cambium Networks urges operators to upgrade their devices to unlock improved network stability and efficiency. The company maintains that keeping firmware up to date is essential in achieving optimal results in fixed wireless deployments.

Cambium Networks recently launched the ePMP 4500, featuring Multi-Gbps 5 GHz capacity and 8x8 MU-MIMO to improve sector efficiency. The company has also promoted Wi-Fi offload solutions designed to create new revenue streams for managed service providers and wireless internet service providers. Both initiatives target enhanced network performance for operators using Cambium’s technology.
