OpenAI launches Codex Security plugin to accelerate vulnerability fixes
OpenAI has announced major upgrades to its Daybreak initiative, aiming to make patching vulnerable software faster and more accessible for developers.
The company introduced a new Codex Security plugin, which will allow users to find, validate, and fix vulnerabilities directly within Codex. In addition, OpenAI unveiled the full release of its GPT-5.5-Cyber model, a solution designed to empower trusted defenders seeking advanced cybersecurity tools. OpenAI also mentioned a new effort called Cyber Partner, signaling its focus on collaborative security innovation. These developments are expected to accelerate the pace at which critical vulnerabilities can be addressed across the software industry.
OpenAI has made several efforts to strengthen security across its platforms. The company previously launched frontier models and Codex on AWS through Amazon Bedrock, introducing enterprise-grade security features for business clients here. In a separate move, OpenAI worked with academic partners to use the o3 Deep Research platform to resolve rare pediatric disease cases here. These projects highlight OpenAI's ongoing collaborations with both industry and research partners.
