Ocugen, Inc. has entered into a binding term sheet with Roots Pharmaceutical to lay the groundwork for expanding global access to innovative gene therapies in the MENA region.

The collaboration aims to address growing healthcare needs and improve the availability of cutting-edge treatments across the Middle East and North Africa, marking a strategic push into international biotech markets.

Ocugen develops modifier gene therapies targeting rare genetic retinal diseases, with a focus on preserving vision as outlined in its gene therapy innovation strategy. The company recently reported that a patient with retinitis pigmentosa experienced improved vision adaptation following the OCU400 clinical trial, according to patient trial results. These initiatives reflect Ocugen’s ongoing efforts to advance gene therapy solutions for unmet medical needs.
