Ocugen launches new gene therapy

Ocugen has introduced a novel modifier gene therapy based on master regulator genes, aiming to influence multiple gene networks to address major blindness diseases.

The company highlighted the potential of this approach to bring new solutions for those living with vision loss, offering a broad platform that targets a range of vision-related conditions.

Ocugen last year signed an agreement with Roots Pharmaceutical for up to $259 million in milestones and royalties related to the OCU400 gene therapy in the MENA region (link). The company is also advancing its OCU410 gene therapy, which is currently in a Phase 3 trial for geographic atrophy, an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration (link). These efforts reflect Ocugen's ongoing work to expand its gene therapy portfolio for vision loss.
