Ocugen MENA gene therapy deal

Ocugen has finalized a licensing agreement with Roots Pharmaceutical for its OCU400 gene therapy in the MENA region. The deal includes up to 4 million dollars in upfront and early development milestone payments, with potential sales milestones of 255 million dollars and a 22 percent royalty on net sales.

The partnership is set to advance the global commercialization of OCU400, expanding Ocugen's reach into new international markets.

Ocugen previously gained provisional approval and priority designation for OCU400 gene therapy in the Bahamas, advancing regulatory progress in that market via earlier filings. The company also launched a commercial Expanded Access Program in the Bahamas to provide OCU400 for retinitis pigmentosa, according to company announcements. These steps laid the groundwork for Ocugen’s continued international expansion.
