Semtech announced that its TDS5311P SurgeSwitch maintains a nearly constant 63V clamping voltage across the full surge range for USB PD 3.1 applications.
The company stated this voltage is approximately 24V lower than comparable TVS solutions. USB PD 3.1 pushes VBUS to 48V and 240W, a range conventional TVS diodes were not designed for.

SMTC is currently trading at $119.29, well below its MA-20 ($137.22) and MA-50 ($148.40), indicating continued short- and medium-term seller pressure, though the price remains significantly above the long-term MA-200 ($98.27), suggesting the longer-term bullish structure is still intact. The Ichimoku Kijun at $145.38 sits notably above the current price and acts as immediate resistance; near-term support is found at the MA-100 ($120.78), with key support at the MA-200 ($98.27), while immediate resistance is at the Ichimoku Kijun ($145.38) and key resistance at the MA-50 ($148.40).
Momentum indicators on D1 (MACD, ADX) show strong downside pressure, with MACD signaling a strong sell and ADX remaining weak, which points to a lack of trend strength. RSI (42.33), Stoch RSI (30.33), and CCI (–75.20) all confirm the presence of oversold conditions, while BBP's overbought reading and negative direction highlight ongoing seller dominance in intraday trading. In today's session, SMTC is sharply lower by 5.27%, bringing it to the very bottom of its weekly range. SMTC is trading at $119.29, down from the previous weekly close of $125.92, reflecting a 5.11% decline; weekly volatility stands at 11.25%. The week has been marked by a steady decline from the high, with momentum and price action in alignment on the downside.
Looking ahead, the next week's expected trading range is $115 to $125, adjusted for current volatility and anchoring around the present price, with both the weekly low and high remaining well above the 52-week low ($46.02) and below the 52-week high ($177.35). Based on W1 indicators—where RSI (54.63), ADX (32.71), and MACD (16.78) all point to a bullish setup but short-term D1 signals are strongly bearish—the probability of a price increase is very high (more than 80%), while the likelihood of further declines is very low. Baseline scenario: price consolidates between $115 and $125 as sellers take a pause at longer-term support. Bullish scenario: a breakout above $125 could target the $135 region if buyers step back in. Bearish scenario: a breakdown below $115 risks a move toward the MA-200 support near $100, but overall bearish momentum looks overstretched in the near-term.
Previously it was reported that Semtech maintained a broadly bullish long-term technical outlook despite facing short-term resistance and consolidation. Looking ahead, investors should monitor whether Semtech can achieve a decisive breakout, as this will likely signal the next major trend for the stock.
