Omaha police use drones to accelerate response to ShotSpotter alerts, SoundThinking reveals
Omaha drones cut response time

The Omaha Police Department can now launch drones within 20 seconds of receiving a ShotSpotter alert, achieving typical on-scene arrival within 90 seconds.

Frank Peck, Chief Pilot with the Omaha Police Department, describes how ShotSpotter's precise location data allows drones to be rapidly deployed, supporting faster law enforcement response to gunshot incidents. The integration of drone technology and real-time gunshot detection aims to enhance public safety and reduce response times in Omaha.

SoundThinking has previously launched PlateRanger ALPR, a license plate recognition system with integrated privacy features, aimed at balancing public safety and privacy rights here. In Cleveland, ShotSpotter technology enabled rapid police response that resulted in an arrest and firearm recovery following a gunfire alert here. Both deployments highlight SoundThinking’s ongoing role in providing real-time data tools for law enforcement.
