SoundThinking unifies city intelligence

SoundThinking has launched CrimeTracer Gen3, a secure intelligence network designed to integrate critical law enforcement data across Hampton Roads’ nine independent cities.

This platform enables agencies in the region to collaborate by connecting suspects, vehicles, incidents, and investigative leads across jurisdictional boundaries. The move is aimed at overcoming longstanding challenges posed by fragmented law enforcement data systems, ultimately allowing for faster and more efficient identification of criminal activity. SoundThinking’s initiative reflects broader efforts in public safety technology to facilitate seamless information sharing and cooperation among agencies.

SoundThinking previously introduced PlateRanger ALPR, a license plate recognition system with integrated privacy safeguards, aiming to balance public safety and privacy rights (read more). The company’s ShotSpotter technology has also been used by Cleveland police, leading to a swift arrest and recovery of a firearm following a gunfire alert (read more). These developments highlight SoundThinking’s expanding role in supporting law enforcement with data-driven tools.
