Sunrun system backs up during fire

Sunrun reported that a local employee relied on the company’s home solar and storage system to provide over 13 hours of backup power during the recent Norte fire in San Clemente.

The family was able to maintain essential electricity throughout the emergency, according to the company, illustrating the real-world application of Sunrun’s technology for home energy security.

Earlier, Sunrun delivered 580 MW to the California grid using 140,000 home batteries during record energy demand and extreme heat, according to company data. The company also recently expanded its partnership with SPAN for distributed AI compute solutions, though its stock fell 2.1% to $8.6 on the news as reported in a previous update. These developments highlight Sunrun’s role in both individual home energy resilience and broader grid support.
