Boracay pilot store opens Oct. 30

As reported by BusinessWorld Online, Robinsons Retail said in a statement on Tuesday that the first Little Marketplace branch will open at Henann Crystal Sands Resort in Station 1. The store will offer groceries, ready-to-eat meals, fresh food, beverages and travel essentials, and it will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The outlet will also include a Pick & Grill service, which allows customers to choose meat cuts for on-site grilling, alongside a bar serving alcoholic beverages. Christine Tueres, RRHI managing director for food segments, big formats, said the company sees opportunities in combining convenience retail with food and beverage services.

She said the company believes the format addresses growing demand for premium but accessible retail and dining experiences. Tueres added that Boracay will serve as the pilot location for Little Marketplace, with other markets and tourist destinations under consideration for expansion.

Tourism-focused format supports expansion plans

The concept is designed to serve both residents and tourists, according to The Marketplace Deputy General Manager Diana Prince Ang. She said Little Marketplace aims to create a more curated and experiential environment than a typical convenience store.

Ang added that the format is intended to match how people shop and spend their time in Boracay while improving convenience for visitors and locals. The Marketplace is RRHI's premium supermarket chain, offering fresh food, specialty groceries, and locally produced and imported products.
