First-half sales growth and expansion plans

As reported by BusinessWorld, citing Jollibee Foods Corp., Mang Inasal records a 13.2% increase in systemwide sales in the first half of 2026, following a 15.6% increase in 2025. The company says demand for its Chicken Inasal and pork barbecue products helps drive the performance, alongside broader access through digital ordering platforms.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mang Inasal President Mike V. Castro says the chain's growth is driven primarily by its grilled core offerings. He adds that the brand's customer proposition centers on familiar grilled food made available through restaurant, off-premise, and digital channels.

The chain's off-premise business, which includes takeout, delivery, and drive-thru operations, also posts double-digit sales growth from January to June. Mang Inasal says it continues to draw interest from prospective franchisees as it works to expand its nationwide store network, which now exceeds 600 outlets.

The company is also refining food preparation processes, including marination and grilling, to maintain product quality across restaurants and other sales channels. It is introducing menu innovations as consumer tastes evolve.

Implications for Jollibee Group's domestic brands

Jollibee Group Philippines Chief Executive Officer and Global Jollibee Brand Head Joseph Tanbuntiong says Mang Inasal's results highlight the growth potential of the group's domestic restaurant brands. He says support in operations, supply chain, quality systems, and franchise development positions the brand to strengthen its nationwide presence and long-term contribution to the group.

Brand Finance's Philippines 50 2026 report ranks Mang Inasal as the country's strongest quick-service restaurant brand, with a Brand Strength Index score of 95.2 out of 100 and an AAA+ rating. Founded in Iloilo City in 2003, Mang Inasal is one of Jollibee Foods Corp.'s wholly owned restaurant brands.

Jollibee Foods Corp.'s portfolio includes Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Smashburger, and Tim Ho Wan, while it also holds interests in The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Compose Coffee, Milksha, and Highlands Coffee. The group operates more than 10,700 stores and cafes across 33 countries.

In our earlier article on Philippine e-commerce payment trends, we noted that cash-on-delivery remains widely used even as digital payments expand rapidly across platforms. The report highlighted that many shoppers abandon purchases if their preferred payment method is missing, increasing pressure on merchants to offer flexible checkout options while strengthening fraud protection.
