TPT taps Moody's to build CDC modelling capabilities for UK pensions push
As UK pension providers develop collective defined contribution structures, TPT Retirement Solutions is expanding its analytical tools to support scheme design and regulatory approval. The move gives TPT a dedicated framework for valuation, forecasting and asset-liability modelling as it advances its multi-employer CDC offering.
Highlights
- TPT selected Moody's PFaroe software to build CDC-specific modelling as it prepares its UK regulatory authorisation application.
- The new platform integrates valuation, forecasting, and asset-liability modelling to support scheme design, oversight, and investment strategy for TPT’s multi-employer CDC proposition.
- Moody's noted rising demand for flexible pension analytics as TPT’s adoption aims to meet evolving regulatory, governance, and outcome requirements in the UK pensions market.
CDC platform supports authorisation plans
As reported by Moody's, TPT selected Moody's PFaroe software to build modelling capabilities tailored to the requirements of collective defined contribution pensions as it prepares its application for regulatory authorisation.TPT, a UK workplace pension provider with 80 years of experience across defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, is developing a multi-employer CDC proposition in a market where established modelling tools remain limited. The new setup is intended to support regulatory authorisation, assess member outcomes and inform investment strategy decisions within an emerging pension framework.
The PFaroe solution brings valuation, forecasting and asset-liability modelling into a single environment. TPT says the framework helps actuaries, investment managers, the scheme actuary and external advisers work from a shared analytical base during scheme design, oversight and future management.
Broader implications for the UK pensions market
For TPT, the new modelling capability is designed to evaluate pension outcomes across different future scenarios, model potential pension increases and test investment decisions as the CDC scheme moves toward operation. The platform is also meant to support governance requirements and provide flexibility as regulatory expectations and market adoption evolve.Paul Eagles, head of CDC at TPT Retirement Solutions, says the modelling capabilities support the provider's effort to develop a new approach to retirement solutions and contribute to the evolution of the UK pensions market. Moody's says the project highlights growing demand for flexible pension analytics as providers balance regulatory requirements, member outcomes and investment decision-making in more complex retirement structures.
Sovereign resilience in a higher interest rate environment was the focus of our earlier coverage, noting how geopolitical tensions and sustained fiscal spending can amplify refinancing risks for governments. We also highlighted that emerging and frontier markets are more exposed due to heavier debt-servicing burdens and narrower revenue bases, with persistent shocks such as energy and food price spikes adding pressure to public finances and credit outlooks.
