Bloomberg analyst predicts $15–40B inflows to crypto ETFs 2026
Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas forecasts baseline capital inflows into cryptocurrency ETFs of $15 billion in 2026, rising to as much as $40 billion if market conditions improve.
According to Balchunas, the U.S. Federal Reserve is “likely” to cut interest rates in 2026, which would push net inflows toward the middle or upper end of the forecast range.
Regulatory clarity and policy changes will also encourage the launch of new ETF products in 2026. More than 100 new ETF applications are currently registered, meaning billions in fresh capital could flow into these investment instruments.
“If U.S. lawmakers pass the CLARITY Act — a comprehensive bill shaping the structure of the cryptocurrency market — it will open the floodgates for new crypto ETFs in 2026,” says Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise.
Regulatory clarity extends planning horizons
In an interview with Cointelegraph, Balchunas also said the number of altcoins with ETFs in the U.S. could double in the coming year, opening these digital assets to inflows from traditional financial markets. He also emphasized the resilience of ETF investors.
“During the recent 35% Bitcoin drop, only 4% of assets were withdrawn, while 96% stayed in place. Some weeks even saw inflows. Overall, that’s quite impressive because a 35% decline is equivalent to the 2008 crash for equities,” Balchunas noted.
He explained this discipline among ETF holders by a higher level of financial literacy and longer investment horizons. One of the key factors to watch in 2026, he says, is the growing share of crypto ETFs in the portfolios of institutional investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, registered investment advisors, and target funds — “where all the real money is concentrated.”

Currently, assets invested in crypto ETFs are estimated at $196 billion. Bitcoin ETFs are the largest (over $164 billion), followed by ETH ETFs (over $30 billion). Around $1 billion is invested in XRP ETFs and about $400 million in Solana ETFs.
