Institutional inflows and payment push as ETF launches and accumulation grows

The recent launch of the 21Shares Dogecoin ETF (TDOG) on January 22, 2026, marked the debut of the first Dogecoin-backed ETF on Nasdaq and provided both institutional and retail investors with a regulated, physically-backed investment vehicle. Large holders have accumulated more than one billion DOGE following this development, supporting improved liquidity. Efforts by the Dogecoin Foundation to build a payment app also highlight an ongoing shift from meme coin status toward payment utility.

Dominant selling signals despite oversold readings challenging support

Momentum signals remain weak, as seen in the daily MACD and ADX, both indicating a sell outlook and supporting the view that bullish strength has faded. The price is trading near its daily low and inside a moderate-to-high volatility range, confirming ongoing selling pressure after the open. Stochastic RSI and CCI are in oversold territory, which suggests recent losses may be overstretched, though the RSI stays bearish and does not flag strong oversold conditions. While the daily Bull/Bear Power indicator shows a slight edge for buyers, this is at odds with the predominantly bearish signals from other momentum indicators and the neutral stance of the Awesome Oscillator.

Downside risk persists with volatility band limiting rebound prospects

Over the next five sessions, DOGE is expected to remain within a typical volatility band of $0.11100 to $0.13400. The current technical setup points to less than a 20% chance of a sustained rise, with a higher probability of continued decline or sideways movement inside this corridor. To break to the upside, DOGE needs a strong move above $0.13710, while a drop below $0.11100 would activate the downside scenario. Both daily and weekly trend signals stay negative, underlining ongoing risks of downward extension.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees continued growth in institutional attention and liquidity after the launch of the 21Shares Dogecoin ETF. He believes that fundamental progress, such as the payment app development and ETF debut, is gradually shifting sentiment despite current bearish trends. Karapetjanc expects volatility and short-term pressure to persist, but views these setbacks as opportunities if DOGE can reclaim key resistance. "With strong fundamentals building behind the scenes, any move above $0.13710 could trigger renewed interest in Dogecoin," he says.
Previously it was reported that Dogecoin remains under bearish pressure, trading below major weekly moving averages with technical signals such as MACD, ADX, and RSI all confirming subdued momentum and dominance by sellers. While volatility has persisted, DOGE is expected to consolidate sideways within a narrow range, with limited probability of a sustained breakout as strong resistance caps upside potential and support near recent lows remains critical.
