AVAX stays range-bound despite stronger on-chain activity
Avalanche is seeing a moderate gain in its on-chain metrics, but this hasn't yet resulted in steady capital inflows. 50-day SMA at $6.60 offers immediate opposition.
Avalanche TVL stands at $423.7M, while stablecoin market cap is at $1.49B and up 4.06% last week, according to DeFiLlama.
Trading volume saw a similar upward trend: 7-day DEX volume is at $295.8M and up 5.67%, with perpetual futures volumes rising 19.35% to $66.7M. $2.9M in capital inflows were recorded yesterday on the network, which processed 3.72M transactions among 596,000 active addresses.
These on-chain metrics suggests a resilient network and gradually increasing liquidity, but not enough to establish a steady ascent for AVAX as of yet.

Short-term structure depends on a break above 50-day SMA
AVAX price has been range-bound since January 2026, and still holds a position within a descending wedge where the boundaries represent dynamic resistance and support at $7 and $4.80.
In the short term however, the 50-day SMA at $6.60 remains the biggest resistance. Failure to break above within the next few days will make a retracement to $6 increasingly likely, as noted earlier.
A continued push above the 50-day SMA should lead to improved short-term structure and a shift in focus back to the upper edge of the descending wedge.
Stronger catalyst is needed to restore capital inflows
Avalanche's greatest long-term challenge stems from competition, and it has yet to devise an investment thesis substantial enough to draw considerable liquidity away from Ethereum and Solana despite its bespoke Avalanche L1 infrastructure and high levels of customizability.
The gap is most evident in terms of ecosystem capital, which sees stablecoin liquidity dwarfed by that of its competitors. Accordingly, sustained capital inflows will likely require a stronger fundamental impetus for AVAX.
