Investor positioning shifts as high staking ratio outlined in ETF filing

Canary Capital submitted a second amendment for its proposed Staked SEI ETF in the United States. The revised S-1 filing details that about 90% of spot SEI will be staked, with BitGo as the exclusive custodian. The ETF is set to list on the Cboe BZX exchange.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views the SEI rally with notable skepticism. He cites technical strength in the short and medium term but flags the lingering bearish setup between the 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Kharitonov highlights the ETF news as a potential catalyst but cautions that most momentum signals are now in overbought territory. He warns that short-term reversals are increasingly likely, given stretched indicators. "Traders should exercise caution and avoid chasing strength, as current levels may soon face corrective pressure," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, notes that institutional interest is growing with the amended Staked SEI ETF filing. He believes that strong technical momentum and positive sentiment from the ETF news reinforce SEI's bullish structure. Karapetjanc sees multiple opportunities for further growth, especially if resistance at $0.0637 breaks. "With institutional support rising and buyers in control, I expect the uptrend to extend in the near term," he asserts.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, remains unconvinced by SEI's recent surge. He notes that news-driven moves can often result in excessive volatility. Dele observes that intraday strength may fade quickly, particularly if support at $0.0559 breaks. "Momentum may not sustain if buyers lose conviction, and downside risk is rising," he warns.

Bullish momentum signals clash with long-term trend caution

SEI/USD is trading above the 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages at $0.0469, $0.0445, and $0.0534 respectively, indicating a firm bullish structure across short, medium, and long timeframes. The immediate resistance stands at $0.0637, with support at $0.0559. However, the alignment between the 50-day and 200-day moving averages still shows a bearish setup for the broader long-term trend. Momentum indicators are strong: both MACD and ADX signal "Buy," and the RSI at 66.76 points to rising momentum without reaching traditional overbought territory. Secondary oscillators, such as Stochastic RSI and CCI, suggest overbought conditions and raise the potential for short-term reversals. Bull/Bear Power is positive and the Awesome Oscillator indicates a "Strong Buy," confirming that buyers dominate intraday action. SEI/USD has recently surged $0.0094, or 19.76%, with an upside gap of about $0.0057 (11.95%), and is near session highs amid intraday volatility of 4.68%. Technicals currently reflect robust strength toward the highs and sustained momentum.

Earlier, analysts noted that Sei was exhibiting strong technical momentum supported by heightened derivatives activity. The recent ETF filing news and powerful price rally strengthen this bullish outlook, making the $0.0637 resistance a key level to watch for confirmation of further upside.
