DeFi Development raises CHAD dividend as it expands Solana treasury strategy
CHAD dividend rises 14%

DeFi Development is increasing the annual dividend rate on its CHAD preferred stock to 14% starting Nov. 2, lifting the payout to $1.40 per share from $1.30. The higher rate comes as the Nasdaq-listed company pushes to grow its Solana holdings and widen investor participation in the preferred security.

Highlights

  • DeFi Development raised the CHAD preferred stock dividend 7.7% to $1.40 per share annually, effective Nov. 2, linked to a $10 stated value.
  • Company's Solana treasury grew by about 22,070 SOL last week, totaling approximately 2.59 million SOL, expanding balance sheet exposure to staking and validator returns.
  • CHAD reached record trading highs alongside an authorized buyback program for up to all outstanding shares, enhancing capital management and preferred stock demand.

Dividend increase and capital deployment plan

As reported by The Block, DeFi Development says the higher CHAD dividend takes effect Nov. 2 and applies to the preferred stock's $10 stated value. The company says dividends will total $1.40 per share annually, up from $1.30, with payments made each business day when declared by its board.

DeFi Development says proceeds from future CHAD issuances are set to support expansion of its Solana treasury. The company says that treasury generates returns through staking and validator operations, linking the preferred stock's appeal to its broader digital asset accumulation strategy.

Chief executive Joseph Onorati says the move to a 14% rate strengthens CHAD's proposition as the company broadens investor participation and scales the instrument. In a company release, he describes CHAD as a Nasdaq-listed preferred security offering double-digit dividend income while helping DeFi Development accumulate SOL and pursue accretive growth for common shareholders.

Crypto treasury growth and market implications

DeFi Development says it added about 22,070 SOL and SOL equivalents last week, bringing total holdings to roughly 2.59 million SOL. That increase further expands the balance sheet exposure behind a strategy centered on building a productive Solana treasury.

The company also says CHAD reached record trading highs in the same week. It recently authorized a program to repurchase up to all outstanding CHAD shares, a step that adds another capital management tool as it seeks to support demand for the preferred stock and continue scaling its crypto treasury model.
