Open beta rollout and MegaPop structure
As reported by The Block, citing PopDEX, the Open Beta removes the invite-code requirement and expands access to all users after the platform says it built up more than $4.5 billion in cumulative trading volume and about $70 million in LP pool capital during Closed Beta. The company says the earlier testing phase helped it expand across crypto, RWA-related markets, global indices, equities and community-driven assets, while refining liquidity, execution, account access, funding flows and risk-management features. Zach Prater, head of traders at PopDEX, says trader feedback during live market conditions shaped the move into the next phase of the platform.
MegaPop is launching alongside the Open Beta as a weekly, onchain-verifiable reward mechanism tied to trading contribution. Eligible trades generate Pop Tickets with random six-digit numbers, and those tickets are checked each week against a Pop Hash derived from public Bitcoin block data, with more matching digits unlocking higher stablecoin reward tiers.
PopDEX says the system is designed to return value through visible prize pools and verifiable results rather than through token-based points programs. The company adds that 40% of net trading fees flows into MegaPop, while unclaimed prizes roll into later draws, allowing the pool to grow with participation.
Our earlier coverage of executive remuneration trends among South Africa’s JSE Top 200 companies outlined how variable pay is rising faster than fixed salaries, with short- and long-term incentive outcomes jumping sharply for CEOs and CFOs in the latest reporting period. We also noted that new Companies Act rules from May 2026 increase governance pressure by requiring pay-ratio disclosures and introducing binding shareholder votes on remuneration that can restrict directors’ roles on pay committees after repeated rejections.
