Crypto markets brace for central bank decisions and Coinbase earnings this week
Crypto braces for big week

Digital asset traders enter a packed week in which monetary policy signals and major corporate earnings are set to shape sentiment across crypto markets. Attention centers on guidance from the Federal Reserve, the ECB and the Bank of Japan, while Coinbase, Robinhood, Galaxy Digital and Strategy are also due to report results.

Highlights

  • Crypto markets anticipate policy commentary from the Federal Reserve, ECB, Bank of Canada, and Bank of Japan between Oct. 25–29, overshadowing rate decisions.
  • Major digital asset-related earnings from Galaxy Digital, PayPal, Robinhood, Mastercard, Coinbase, Strategy, and Intercontinental Exchange are expected Oct. 27–29, impacting crypto risk sentiment.
  • Protocol events, token unlocks, U.S. macro releases—including GDP and inflation data—and governance votes across ENS DAO and CoW DAO add further volatility risks throughout the week.

Central bank signals and company results drive the agenda

As reported by CoinDesk, this week’s calendar is dominated by interest-rate decisions from the Federal Reserve and Bank of Canada on Wednesday, the ECB on Thursday and the Bank of Japan on Friday, with markets paying closer attention to policymakers’ commentary than to the rate moves themselves.

MEXC CEO Vugar Usi Zade says traders are less focused on the immediate decision and more interested in any remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh about the December meeting. He says steady rates are already reflected in market expectations, limiting the chance that an unchanged decision becomes a major positive catalyst for crypto prices.

Wall Street earnings are also adding to the risk backdrop for digital assets. Galaxy Digital and PayPal report on Oct. 27, followed by Robinhood after the close that day, while Mastercard, Coinbase and Strategy are scheduled for Oct. 29, alongside results from Intercontinental Exchange.

Crypto deadlines, governance votes and macro data add volatility risks

Beyond central banks and earnings, the week includes several crypto-specific deadlines that could influence trading and protocol activity. Blast’s normal withdrawal interface closes on Oct. 26, IRS comments on Notice 2026-62 are due Oct. 28, Unichain is targeting a transfer of sequencer operations on Oct. 29 and Balancer’s BIP-928 wind-down timetable reaches new steps on Oct. 30.

Macroeconomic releases are also likely to affect digital asset pricing through broader risk appetite and rate expectations. The calendar includes U.S. durable goods orders and new home sales on Oct. 27, U.S. GDP, PCE inflation and jobless claims on Oct. 29, and eurozone GDP and U.S. employment cost data on Oct. 30.

Governance votes remain active across several crypto organizations, including ENS DAO and CoW DAO, while token unlocks for Collector Crypt and MemeCore are scheduled for Oct. 29 and Nov. 1. Industry gatherings including Ripple Swell in New York, Meridian 2026 in Lisbon and the TUM Blockchain Conference in Munich round out a week that keeps both market participants and protocol communities busy.

Our earlier coverage of the Federal Reserve’s policy-signaling debate explained how disagreements over public communication—especially around Chair Kevin Warsh’s preference for fewer forward signals—have been influencing rate-hike expectations ahead of the next meeting. We noted that officials’ speeches and interviews, alongside inflation data, repeatedly shifted market pricing and highlighted how clear messaging can move rates, yields and broader risk sentiment.
