Bitbase launches ORIGIN points season for long-term user activity
Bitbase is rolling out a 26-week rewards campaign aimed at users who stay active on its crypto trading platform over time. The ORIGIN season distributes 1,000,000 points each week through daily allocations tied to trading, holdings, repeat activity and referrals, with the program running until May 4, 2027.
Highlights
- Bitbase launched the ORIGIN points season, automatically enrolling all eligible users and measuring contributions from trading, assets, daily participation, and referrals.
- Referrers earn an additional 25% of each directly referred user's contribution, while existing users start with credited points reflecting prior platform activity.
- ORIGIN is the first points program following Bitbase 2.0's November 2 rollout, spanning six months and focusing on sustained platform engagement over short-term activity.
Program structure and rollout timeline
As reported by The Block, citing Bitbase, ORIGIN is the first season of the exchange's Bitbase Points program and begins with automatic enrollment for all eligible users, including both new and existing participants. The company says each user's contribution is measured across four sources, trading activity, assets held on the platform, consistency of daily participation and referrals.Bitbase says referrers receive an extra 25% of each directly referred user's contribution, while the referred user's own points remain unchanged. The exchange also plans to issue Trading Identity cards starting November 9, with updated cards released every Monday for the rest of the season as a shareable summary of trading behavior.
Eligible existing users start the season with points already credited based on previous platform activity. That means prior engagement is already reflected in their opening points balance and ranking for the new season.
Bitbase 2.0 ties rewards to platform engagement
ORIGIN follows the November 2 launch of Bitbase 2.0, when the exchange updated its brand, app and website under the statement, "Market Flows. We Focus." The new points season is the first program tied directly to that repositioning and reflects Bitbase's decision to measure participation over months rather than around short bursts of market activity.Nicholas Lo, chief business officer at Bitbase, says the program is built for users who participate steadily instead of only during the market's busiest periods. Points and rankings are available through the Bitbase app and on the company's points page, giving users an ongoing view of their standing throughout the six-month season.
Our earlier coverage of executive pay trends at South Africa’s JSE Top 200 companies explained that variable remuneration is rising sharply, with short- and long-term incentive awards growing much faster than fixed pay. We also noted that regulatory changes under the Companies Act will increase transparency through mandatory pay-ratio disclosures and introduce binding shareholder votes on remuneration, adding governance pressure on listed firms.
