Gaming firm Animoca Brands Becomes Top Validator in TON Network

Animoca Brands, a Gaming-focused venture capital firm, has invested in the TON ecosystem, standing as the largest validator.

In this move, the Hong Kong-based company will support TON Play, the network's gaming infrastructure project, helping third-party gaming projects to build in the blockchain. 

Specifically, it will offer funding, research, and analysis platforms for third-party TON mini-applications.

Animoca Brands shared their extensive efforts prior to the significant investment in TON’s ecosystem, leading to two research papers exploring the blockchain’s potential to boost crypto adoption, stated in a press release.

Notably, the research focused on user-friendly TON-based dApps and the scalable TON Blockchain, which are crucial for community growth. In response, the game developer created a dashboard showing key metrics of TON's growth. 

The collaboration between TON and Animoca Brands aims to transition existing Web2 users into Web3 mini-apps smoothly. This effort reflects their commitment to a straightforward shift between the two web paradigms.

At present, TON Play facilitates the launch of new gaming projects, enabling Animoca’s portfolio of over 400 Web3 projects to be easily placed into Telegram, a cloud-based messaging platform.

In September, TON was endorsed by Telegram as its blockchain of choice for Web3-related developments, potentially reaching the messaging app's 800 million users.

Accordingly, Justin Hyun, Director of Growth at TON Foundation, explained that Animoca Brands' investment is a step towards the next era of blockchain-based gaming.

In addition, he emphasized alignment with TON Foundation's mission to integrate Web3 into the daily experiences of Telegram participants, focusing on gaming, for a wider audience.

Subsequently, Yat Siu, Animoca Brands executive chairman, cited that the venture is part of a  broader commitment to help onboard Web3 users. 

Furthermore, he emphasized that the gaming platform has already seen significant growth potential in content with TON.
