FalconX debuts 24/7 crypto options trading with BTC, ETH, SOL and HYPE
FalconX, a leading institutional digital asset prime broker, has rolled out its new Electronic Options trading platform, offering around-the-clock over-the-counter (OTC) crypto options trading.
The launch marks a significant step toward addressing inefficiencies in the fragmented OTC options market, aiming to give institutional investors seamless execution across multiple strategies, the Block informs.
Solving Market Fragmentation
Historically, institutional crypto options trading has been hindered by fragmented liquidity and limited exchange access. Hedge funds, market makers, and fintech platforms seeking hedging, volatility, and arbitrage strategies have often faced bottlenecks. FalconX’s Electronic Options seeks to solve these challenges by providing 24/7 trading access through a unified interface and API, leveraging FalconX’s deep liquidity network and infrastructure.
“The options market is the next major frontier in institutional crypto,” said Josh Lim, FalconX Global Co-Head of Markets. He noted that the platform delivers the execution quality of FalconX’s OTC desk, now enhanced with scale, distribution, and continuous access.
Features and supported assets
At launch, the platform supports options trading for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Hype (HYPE). It introduces proprietary principal liquidity for competitive pricing, a matrix-style builder for constructing multi-leg strategies, and workflows designed to meet institutional trading standards. FalconX also plans to expand support to additional altcoins in the coming months.
Backed by investors including Accel, GIC, and Tiger Global Management, the platform leverages Request for Quote (RFQ) models that mirror practices in FX, rates, and credit markets, positioning Electronic Options as one of the most advanced offerings available to institutions.
Market implications
The expansion into crypto options underscores the growing demand for sophisticated hedging and arbitrage tools in the digital asset ecosystem.
By launching 24/7 OTC options trading, FalconX aims to provide institutions with the liquidity and flexibility needed to navigate an increasingly dynamic market.
Analysts suggest this move could accelerate broader institutional adoption of crypto derivatives, particularly as interest grows in structured strategies tied to ETFs and volatility products.
In an earlier report, we noted that SEC ends delays, set to rule on 16 crypto ETFs in October.
