MrBeast plans `MrBeast Financial` app for crypto and banking
James Stephen Donaldson — better known as MrBeast, the world’s most popular YouTuber with 446 million subscribers — plans to register the “MrBeast Financial” trademark for a new application offering cryptocurrency trading, payment processing, banking, and insurance services.
The filing also covers investment banking, insurance, financial literacy education, microfinancing, and cryptocurrency exchange services via decentralized exchanges (DEX).
If approved, MrBeast Financial will join 52 trademarks already owned by Donaldson’s company, including MrBeast Gaming, MrBeast Burger, MrBeast Philanthropy, and MrBeast Bar — though not all of them have become real products or services.
Should Donaldson move forward with creating a crypto exchange or payment platform, he would need to register with FinCEN as a financial services provider, obtain state-level money transmitter licenses, and secure approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) depending on how the platform operates.
Longstanding ties to the crypto industry
As of this writing, Decrypt reports that such filings by the YouTuber have not yet been officially submitted. However, MrBeast is no stranger to crypto, having been active in the space since 2021, investing in startups and purchasing several NFTs, including at least eight CryptoPunks at the height of the NFT boom.
Crypto sleuths have been tracking his public wallets, promotional statements, and on-chain activity ever since.
One of his latest ventures, the “Creator League” — promoted by MrBeast and featuring influencers like Bella Poarch, iShowSpeed, and Clix — was recently suspended following backlash from gamers over its NFT integration.
According to Esports Insider and Sports Business Journal, eFuse, the esports company behind the project, laid off around 30% of its staff this week, affecting roughly 30 employees.
