The prediction market frenzy has reached Hollywood. Popular website Hollywood.com and Crypto.com have announced a joint venture aimed at the film and entertainment industry.
After completing its deal with Trump Media for Truth Predict, Crypto.com revealed plans to launch an entertainment prediction market based on cryptocurrency through the Hollywood.com platform.
According to a joint press release, event contracts will be provided by Crypto.com Derivatives North America (CDNA), a company registered with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as a designated contract market and derivatives clearing organization.
CDNA will offer users a federally compliant way to predict outcomes of movies, actors, TV shows, awards, and more. Hollywood.com, a long-established entertainment news site, will promote these markets on its platform.
The choice of Hollywood.com as a partner stems from its 15-year history covering film, television, celebrities, video games, and pop culture, and for being the first U.S. platform to publish nationwide movie schedules.
“By combining our expertise in entertainment with Crypto.com’s proven trading technology, we are redefining how fans engage with the entertainment they love,” the platform wrote on X.
The new offering will allow users to trade event-based contracts tied to Hollywood films, Broadway performances, TV shows, concerts, and award ceremonies. Prices will update in real time, enabling instant reactions to industry news.
“The success of prediction markets demonstrates the massive interest in trading on future outcomes, and Hollywood.com is bringing this innovation to the entertainment industry’s biggest stage,” said Mitchell Rubenstein, co-director of Hollywood.com.
“Imagine predicting the winners of award shows, reality competitions, or whether a musical will top the charts — we’re giving fans a way to forecast the moments that define entertainment,” Rubenstein added.
Prediction markets have gained momentum over the past year as Polymarket rose to prominence amid the U.S. presidential election cycle. Since then, multiple platforms — including Kalshi — have attracted billion-dollar valuations and record trading volumes.
In the film industry, MoviePass, once known for its unlimited theater pass, has also entered the space with a new service called Mogul, described as “Hollywood’s first fantasy league and prediction market,” now open in public beta.
