WASET publishes Traders Union research on Bitcoin ETFs
Traders Union is becoming integrated into the global academic community

As part of the international blockchain conference held on April 13-14 in Lisbon, Portugal, and organized by the World Academy of Science, Engineering, and Technology (WASET), a paper by Traders Union analyst Dmytro Kharkov on Bitcoin ETFs was selected for publication in the International Journal of Computer and Information Engineering.

Highlights

  • An article by Traders Union analyst Dmytro Kharkov successfully passed WASET multistage selection process and peer review.
  • The study examines the impact of Bitcoin ETFs on economic cycles and highlights the distinction between original Bitcoin as hard money and ETFs as derivative instruments based on it.
  • The publication is indexed in leading academic databases, strengthening Traders Union integration into the global academic community.

Traders Union analysts took part in a WASET conference for the first time and demonstrated a high level of theoretical and applied expertise. All research papers underwent initial screening as well as three stages of peer review, after which a decision was made on publication in the international journal. “We congratulate you on your academic achievement and highly appreciate your contribution to this field,” the organizers said.

The paper is available in the International Journal of Computer and Information Engineering and online on the official WASET website. Dmytro Kharkov, Head of News and Analytics, commented on the outcome: “The overwhelming majority of experts selected for publication in the journal represent leading European and global universities, as well as think tanks. It is especially valuable that Traders Union meets high academic standards and goes beyond the traditional boundaries of media.”

According to the organizers, peer-reviewed materials are indexed in Open Science Index, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, Zenodo, BASE, WorldCat, Sherpa/RoMEO, and other leading databases. This means Traders Union is becoming integrated into the global scientific community.

Analysis of Bitcoin ETFs and their impact on economic cycles

The paper analyzes the effect of the launch of Bitcoin ETFs and related products on the dynamics of economic and business cycles. Using the analytical framework of the Austrian School of Economics, the author concludes that original Bitcoin and financial products based on it differ in nature. While original Bitcoin meets all the criteria of hard money, Bitcoin ETFs lead to the emergence of money substitutes and the appearance of paper Bitcoin.

Although demand for new financial instruments is likely to continue growing under the influence of institutional investors, additional risks also arise in the form of market and price volatility that may extend beyond the crypto market. Much will also depend on whether coin custodians maintain 100% reserve backing.
