Michigan supplier expo boost

Detroit is set to host the U.S. Small Business Administration's second 2026 Supplier Matchmaking Expo on June 5 at MotorCity Casino. The event, co-hosted by General Motors, aims to connect large manufacturers with small domestic suppliers as part of a broader effort to strengthen U.S. supply chains and support local job creation.

Highlights

  • The SBA and General Motors will host a supplier matchmaking expo in Detroit on June 5, 2026, targeting expanded domestic sourcing.
  • Confirmed buyers at the event include Boeing, DTE Energy, Google, NASA Office of Small Business Programs, Defense Logistics Agency, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • At the March Charlotte expo, over 675 small businesses met 35 industrial buyers, resulting in more than 170 successful matches for small firms.

Detroit expo expands supplier outreach

As announced by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Michigan event gives small businesses and local suppliers a chance to meet corporations across multiple industries that are seeking operational partners.

Participants can join one-on-one matchmaking sessions with prospective buyers and also connect with federal, state and local resources that support small manufacturers. Confirmed buyers include Boeing, DTE Energy, Google, NASA Office of Small Business Programs, the Defense Logistics Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, among others.

The expo runs on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET at MotorCity Casino in Detroit. Registration for buyers and suppliers is open at suppliermatchmakingexpo.com.

Domestic manufacturing focus and prior results

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler says the agency is expanding the program after strong participation in its first matchmaking event, arguing that major companies and small businesses want more opportunities to do business locally. She says large companies depend on U.S. small businesses for needs ranging from component manufacturing to business services.

The agency says the initiative supports President Trump's Made in America agenda by encouraging companies to bring supply chains back to the U.S., create local jobs and reinforce domestic industrial capacity. In March, the inaugural expo in Charlotte, North Carolina, connected more than 675 small businesses with 35 large industrial buyers, and SBA says more than 170 small businesses secured matches with larger companies.
