AMD is entering one of the most important periods of the quarter. Over the coming weeks, the stock's direction will be shaped by a combination of corporate earnings, macroeconomic developments, and overall investor risk appetite.
This week, investors are gradually shifting their focus from individual corporate news to the start of the U.S. earnings season. Following a strong first quarter, market expectations remain exceptionally high. Even if companies deliver outstanding results, further upside is far from guaranteed, as the risk of a sell-the-news reaction remains elevated.
At the same time, external factors continue to weigh on the technology sector. Ongoing tensions in the Middle East are supporting higher oil prices and increasing inflationary risks. Another key event this week will be the release of the U.S. June CPI report on July 14. Stronger-than-expected inflation data could reinforce expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep monetary policy restrictive for longer, a scenario that typically weighs on growth stocks, including AMD.

AMD’s bullish structure faces a test at $526.20
On the daily chart, AMD has formed an unusual technical pattern. Despite posting five consecutive daily gains, the stock briefly corrected toward the $500 level before fully recovering those losses.
This type of price structure is relatively rare and has previously been observed in IBM shares. As a result, the most likely near-term scenario is a test of the July 9 Gap-Up level around $526.20.
Notably, the short-term ascending trendline remains intact. However, if the $526.20 support area fails to hold, a pullback toward the $510–515 range cannot be ruled out over the next few trading sessions.
AMD braces for a volatile earnings season
AMD shares are likely to experience significantly higher volatility in the coming weeks. The start of earnings season, the release of U.S. inflation data, and ongoing geopolitical tensions all have the potential to trigger sharp price swings across both the technology sector and the broader equity market.
