Bitcoin ETFs regain inflows after two months of redemptions
Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds returned to net inflows in the week ended July 10, breaking an eight-week run of withdrawals that had weighed on crypto-market sentiment. The reversal suggests institutional demand is improving, though the flow data still show investors are moving selectively.
Highlights
- Bitcoin ETFs drew $197.40 million after eight weeks of outflows.
- Ethereum ETFs added $84.42 million over the same week.
- BlackRock’s Bitcoin fund led the rebound with $291.9 million in inflows.
- Outflows from Grayscale, Fidelity, and ARK showed demand remains uneven.
Bitcoin ETFs attracted $197.40 million in net inflows for the week, while Ethereum ETFs added $84.42 million, according to SoSoValue data. Bitcoin ETF net assets rose to $77.42 billion by July 10, and Ethereum ETF assets recovered to $9.59 billion after two months of redemptions. The end of the outflow streak may point to a recovery in institutional appetite for Bitcoin exposure after two months of selling pressure, Yahoo Finance reports.
Inflows return after heavy redemptions
The shift followed a difficult stretch for both products. Bitcoin ETFs had posted outflows every week since mid-May, with withdrawals reaching $1.79 billion in the week ended June 26. Ethereum ETFs followed a similar path, with their worst week also coming June 26, when investors pulled $273.34 million.
The weekly rebound was driven largely by BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, which attracted $291.9 million in inflows. That strength was partly offset by continued withdrawals from Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, and ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF, showing that demand has not yet returned evenly across the sector.
Still, the split between BlackRock’s inflows and redemptions from rival funds suggests investors are becoming more selective rather than returning to crypto ETFs across the board.
Ethereum funds also broke their eight-week losing streak, led by inflows into BlackRock and Fidelity Ether products.
Macro relief meets geopolitical volatility
The turnaround came during a broader price recovery in crypto markets. Bitcoin found support after Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said inflation risks had eased, while weak jobs data reinforced expectations that monetary conditions may become less restrictive.
Still, daily flows remained unstable. Bitcoin ETFs posted outflows of $84.86 million on July 8 and $95.30 million on July 9 after U.S. strikes on Iran. That volatility shows that ETF demand is improving, but not yet strong enough to ignore geopolitical shocks.
ETF flows become a sentiment gauge
The return to inflows matters because spot ETFs are one of the clearest measures of institutional appetite for crypto. When money leaves these products for weeks, it signals that large investors are reducing exposure or waiting for better entry points.
A single positive week does not confirm a lasting recovery. But with Bitcoin ETF assets back at $77.42 billion and Ethereum ETF assets at $9.59 billion, the market now has a base to test whether the recent rebound is a temporary pause in selling or the start of renewed accumulation.
