Neogen leads premarket gainers after raising full-year outlook
Neogen surges premarket

Early trading is highlighting sharp moves across food safety, alcohol and online betting stocks as investors react to earnings and analyst calls before the opening bell. Neogen is among the strongest gainers after lifting its fiscal-year revenue guidance, while Constellation Brands is under pressure despite posting quarterly results above Wall Street expectations.

Highlights

  • Neogen shares surge 11% premarket after raising fiscal-year revenue guidance to $885 million-$890 million, above both prior forecast and consensus.
  • Penguin Solutions climbs over 4% after Q4 earnings of $1 per share and $566.7 million revenue beat FactSet estimates of 77 cents and $521 million.
  • Constellation Brands drops 5% as beer operating margins shrink by 160 basis points despite fiscal Q2 earnings and revenue exceeding analyst expectations.

Premarket movers driven by guidance, earnings and ratings

As reported by CNBC, Neogen shares jump 11% in premarket trading after the food safety company raises its fiscal-year guidance. Neogen now expects revenue of $885 million to $890 million, up from its earlier forecast of $880 million to $885 million, compared with a FactSet consensus estimate of $883.2 million.

Penguin Solutions advances more than 4% after fourth-quarter results top expectations. The company, which builds artificial intelligence factory platforms, reports adjusted earnings of $1 per share on revenue of $566.7 million, ahead of analyst estimates compiled by FactSet for 77 cents per share and $521 million in revenue.

Constellation Brands falls 5% even after reporting fiscal second-quarter results above forecasts. The beer distributor posts earnings of $3.74 per share on revenue of $2.63 billion, compared with analyst expectations for $3.56 per share and $2.54 billion in revenue.

Margin pressure and analyst sentiment shape sector reaction

Despite the earnings beat, Constellation Brands faces investor concern as beer operating margins decline by 160 basis points from a year earlier. Depletions, a key measure of demand for the company, also edge down slightly from the prior-year period.

Flutter Entertainment rises nearly 3% after Citi upgrades the FanDuel parent to buy from neutral. Citi analysts say recent share-price weakness tied to concerns about Brazil and September U.S. sports results is overblown, supporting a more positive view on the stock.

Our earlier article on September-quarter earnings expectations highlighted forecasts for unusually strong S&P 500 profit growth, helped by heavy corporate spending on AI infrastructure and a record number of companies issuing positive guidance. We also noted growing concern that earnings and index strength are becoming increasingly concentrated in a narrow group of AI-linked winners, which could heighten volatility if investment momentum or sentiment shifts.
